Privacy
Short version: audio is processed locally in your browser and never uploaded. We set no cookies and only see aggregated page-view statistics.
Your microphone and recordings
When you press Start, your browser asks whether this site may use the microphone. If you allow it, the sound is analysed by code running in your browser (the Web Audio API) to draw the meter and work out the verdict. No audio is sent to us or to anyone else, and the site has no server that accepts audio.
If you press Record 10 seconds, the browser keeps the recording in the memory of your tab so you can play it back. It is not saved to a file or a server and it is never stored by us. It is removed when you press Delete recording, record again, or close or leave the page. When you press Stop, or leave the page, the page stops the microphone and the browser releases it.
The echo test plays a short tone through your speakers; it is generated in your browser and nothing is downloaded for it.
What is saved on your device
Nothing. The site does not use cookies, local storage or other browser storage for the test, and it does not remember your microphone choice. You can revoke the microphone permission any time in your browser’s site settings.
Visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)
To see how many people use the site and which pages they visit, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, including for visitors from the EU and UK. It does not set cookies, does not use your browser storage or fingerprinting, and does not identify or follow individual visitors. We only see aggregated numbers such as page views per page, referring sites, countries and device types. A small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com reports each page view to Cloudflare. No audio and no microphone data are included.
Cookies and advertising
The site sets no cookies and currently shows no ads. We may show ads from Google AdSense later to keep the tool free. Before any ads go live we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent through a consent message.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
